Custom Home Design: How We Personalize Every Detail of Your Clermont Home

One of the biggest joys of custom home design is knowing you’re designing, building, and personalizing something completely unique for you and your family. Your own personal retreat, its value will likely appreciate faster than a pre-built home, thanks to its beauty, quality, and exclusivity. But it’s hard to know what to expect if this is your first time working with a local custom builder.

The custom home building process begins when you define your vision, set your budget, and articulate project needs. Once you finalize the design agreement with your builder, it’s time to secure financing and sign a purchase agreement. After this agreement is signed, the personalization/selection process begins.

Floor Plan: Style & Design

Before you can fill the rooms with everything and everyone you love, it’s time to create your custom floor plan. Here’s what that entails:
  • Room Type/Layout and Number of Rooms: How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you want to include? How about a playroom or bonus room? How many levels will your home have, and will you need to incorporate any accessibility features?
  • Room design and features: If there’s a particular architectural style you love (modern, colonial, mid-century, etc.), you can incorporate your favorite elements into each room of your home.
  • Outdoor Living: Any outdoor living spaces (such as outdoor kitchens or swimming pools) will also be conceptualized, designed, and approved at this stage.

Detailed Selection: Finishes, Features, and More

After you’ve developed a floor plan, custom home design continues with a detailed selection of interior and exterior finishes before construction begins, with support from a design consultant. You’ll decide on things like:
  • Materials: What materials do you want your home exterior and interior to feature? Wood, stone, and brick can be combined to customize home exteriors in truly beautiful ways. Interior materials selection includes flooring finishes and types, kitchen counters, and more.
  • Cabinetry and Storage: Bathroom and kitchen cabinetry, and any other constructed home storage, can be custom-designed and built to maximize space throughout your home.
  • Fixtures and Details: Sinks, toilets, railings, hardware, switches, doors: a wide range of details will be decided on to give your custom home design its finishing touches.
